Brazilian Cellphone Market
First, let's talk about the big picture. In the world actually (2015) we have 1,97 billion smartphones. If you go further you will find that exists around 6.8 billion cellphones and around 7 billion people! But let's keep our focus on smartphones.
Analyzing global market share also in 2015 we will find that Android has 82,8%, iOS 13,9%, Windows Phone 2.6%, Blackberry OS 0,3% and others 0,4%. It is really amazing to see how Google could reach so much being launched almost one year later than iOS. Remeber that Android was launched in September 23, 2008 while iOS was launched in June 29, 2007.
Now let's talk about Brazilian market. We have a population of 200 milion people with around 143 million cellphones. Smartphones represents around 76% percent of that, or 108,6 million. In terms of market share Android leads with 88,2% followed by Windows Phone 5,9% and iOS with 3,5%.
We can conclude that investing in apps for Android in the world or in Brazil are a good way to start a business!
